I tried to comment on your last post but got entangled with TAPS' doff hat, haha. I can understand Wiley's desire to walk on his own - we just DON'T want to admit that we're there. It is very trying for the loving person who worries that a fall could happen, but so important to him to try. Hugs to you both.

the wild life here seems to be dissapearing.  to much clearing of the land from pine forest to nothing.  they come in clear the trees, sell them, scrape the top soil off and sell it then they sell parcels of land.  sad.

I have seen a few animal altercations myself at my house. Never dull with them.

I expect if animals were not hunted they would appear more friendly within a few decades. Once if one saw a wild pigeon it would take flight before it was even noticed.

Now they walk over the garden like old hens. Took about 50 years a mere few seconds in evolution terms. Hope you are coping.

That didn't turn out very good.  Anyway, it is "The Bear" (1989) filmed in British Colombia.  I love reading about you and your garden and animals and gnomes.ar (1989)The Bear (1989)

At least with the little critters it's survival and instinct

and not greed, pride and all the other seven deadlies....  Your place sounds like a wonderful, sane place to live.

Kabu, dear lady...

Amidst all the beauty, there is that survival instinct which can turn ugly in all creatures. I love this post you've given us, on many levels. It's a hard lesson to learn. You and many others kind of heart find it especially difficult at times. It can be painful to watch. But you've also got much beauty in your life.

You are an Earth Steward: you create a sanctuary for a few that nature would not support. Nature is indifferent to suffering, to individual needs and comforts. But sometimes a steward does need to accept the natures of the creatures on her patch.
