Re: CCT,

Ooh, you should meet the huge 'banana' slugs in the Pacific NW! They are up to 7-8 inches long, and some are yellow but mostly they are a very nasty color!

Well I hope they like it I am sure there will be little jobs waiting for you. Strawberries always seem abit messy grown on the ground. Not nice to notice that a big black slug has been inspecting the crop.

Re: Pat,

That screen is useful here, too, against hail storms we can count on in the summertime.  As to peppermint... I am with the squirrels on that one! The only good peppermint is a chocolate peppermint!

I once planted a row of 25 strawberry plants along the back of the

lot, next to the driveway. All was well until the fruit began to ripen. The birds got some, the squirrels got some, and a bunch of Little League baseball players in uniform, taking a shortcut through the alley, got the rest. If I plant any in the big planter by the front steps this year, I will plant peppermint along with them. Squirrels hate the scent of peppermint and won't go near it. I might get a few berries if I put a screen over the top to keep the birds out.
