Liberals and pacifists have caused our schools to be gun-free zones (a misleading term, in itself),  which invite murderers to do their thing, to their heart's content, without fear of being shot themselves.  The naivete and stupidity of this policy is appalling.  Of course,  there should be officers or teachers with guns at all the schools.

In Israel, the teachers are trained to shoot guns, and guns are at the school, ready to be used to defeat any shooter, without need of police.  The children are not traumatized by this..... they may not even know about it.  They just go to school to learn,  and are protected by their teachers, whether they know it or not.  What a simple concept!!!  But too complicated for our liberals and pacifists,  apparently.

I live in a small farming community in nw florida, and there is a deputy stationed outside the middle school here.  I have not driven by the high school it is further out in the country but the elementary is just down the road(4 mi) and there is not one there.  Maybe it depends on the community or the local sheriff where they station officers? I have no objection to officers in the schools. Something like this should be put to the citizens vote not left to our lawmakers whose children go to private schools .

Arming faculty addresses one facet of the problem.

Disarming people who post online they intend to shoot up a school ought to spark fast action by law enforcement. Curbing bullying and teaching children early on to be kind to one another couldn't hurt. And if all else fails, maybe limiting the sale of assault weapons to law enforcement units and the military might be an idea. Given the cunning and determination of a person with the will do shoot up a crowd, it may not be possible to stop mass shootings entirely.

It is a shame how they have politicized the protection of our children.
