Well you are still witty and pretty and wise.Is that a song, seems like it should be. I think one has to keep thinking of things to do. We all leave it too late probably if we are reasonably comfortable. Also one must overcome ageist fear. I was speaking to a lady a few years ago she said, 'They want me to have a hip operation, but I am eighty and it is not worth it. I think she was really afraid, later I heard she was bedridden, it seemed tragic.

Believe me Helen I know what it feels like, sadly no one visits. Do try and get help ,I don't know what is available but even if a carer just sits and talks it makes a difference. Once our usual carer was on holiday and a replacement was sent she was quite a nice young girl but as soon as I saw her I knew my Mum would go frantic. She had a thin face and I knew in my Mother's eyes she would be frightening. 'She's a witch,' she whispered 'send her away.'

I often think of you as in your teens. You have the teen spirit about you. Then you start talking about something from the past and I realize you have been around for quite a while, as have I.

I think the mockery of time is just about the worst of them all,
it does no good to think of times when life was a festive ball.
When I could run three flights down and never give a thought;
now a dozen treads or less have me grasping, wheezing, wrought.
