Times were different for our Parents......

Both my Mom and Dad went through to the 8th grade....that's the way  it was...were they stupid because of it, of course not....they had years of life experience through the Great Depression.....and both of them made sure my brother and I had a total path available to us.

That is great that boarding school worked out so well for you. I know I liked college a lot, living away from home.

I do hope you only remember the good things I think you are a true optimist.

Why do I picture you sitting on your little bed dabbing your eyes and wishing you were back in your own little bed. Well that was at the beginning.

Kabu

The best thing about you Kabu maam is, that you like everything that you had, or have and are invariably always thankful. The girls, as you found out later, you didn't like them either. It could be the other way round, that they, in their later years got to like you, your goodness ... who knows?

I love this! I love imagining you growing up in such an enriched world, and that your mother understood what you needed, what would make the most of who you were, give you the most opportunities for life!

Kabu dear thank you so much...

Oh, what a wonderful time you must have had there at the boarding school. A great Mom you had, to make sure you had the opportunities to experience so many wonderful things. There was much there that many children/young people don't have access to in the way of culture. Kudos to your family for getting you off on the right foot in life. And look at the lovely, sweet lady you are! So accomplished and just a delight!

I would guess there were no farm chores at boarding school, either.

No barns to be mucked out, no eggs to gather, no lugging bushels of vegetables in to be canned or prepared for market... And there was singing and dancing.  Love your mom.
