It was a difficult time for men and women

as the gender 'rules' were being challenged, all the expectations we had been brought up with, had adapted to were turned topsy-turvy. And I suspect a lot of us were not only confused, we didn't have the answers pinned down:like having a pain but not being quite able to say where it was. It took years for some of us to realize, Yeah, that happens, and it hurts, and it's wrong!  Like the mansplaining thing and the interruption thing... and all the other patronizing diminishments that came so naturally to people who were raised with the unquestioned belief that women are essentially like children.

Pat

I so enjoyed your post. I well remember those days. You answered Fang in the best way you knew, at that moment, when he asked you from what you wanted liberated. I think you were right; he probably wouldn't have understood.

The trouble was I think that Fang did not realize that you were much more intelligent.

If he had praised you for your ability things might have ended differently. I always thought how gracious you were at the end, not many would have shown forgiveness.

A very interesting read that goes to show that many women have different situations yet they still all do seek equality in society and in the household.

Things have changed, I read a very sad article in the Canadian magazine last night...all about Women coming out and wishing that they had never been Mothers. I guess that is brave; but for me the real issues are not fighting against being born a woman but equality  and respect of genders, that being female doesn't mean sub human.
