I have the same worries - which is why as soon as the weather breaks,

I'm gonna go ahead and get these cataracts removed. Being unable to come and go as necessary can really sadden people - several from The Center here wouldn't even take advantage of our van pickup service. It's got to do with our sense of indepedence, I think.

One has to be careful of insurance, no one likes giving up on something that they always have done. Do get it sorted by the doctor. At least he still has confidence.

You're absolutely right! She could have been much nicer about that! I dread the day it will happen to me, as it must, and can sympathize with Wiley. I too believe the best thing is to get the paper from the doctor allowing daylight driving - it will probably sooth his fears. But I know you are already there.

Losses of such privileges can be quite disheartening. Keeping you in my thoughts.

That's a really difficult decision to make and one has to make it for themselves in order to be satisfied with the decision.  Otherwise one feels as if he/she is being deprived of a right.  I sometimes wonder if I, as a driver, am a threat to others.  I have given up night driving, snow and ice driving, rain driving, freeway driving, and trying to drive to places I'm not familiar with.  Not much left, LOL.  P.S.  I've also given up drag racing.

Kabu dear

Give my best to Wiley and tell him not to give up yet on driving. You are absolutely correct in your assessment of the nurse who interviewed Wiley. It is not her decision to make. I think you should consider perhaps getting a letter from Wiley's MD as soon as possible, stating something to the effect that a modified restriction on driving, such as "driving during daylight hours, is permitted and medically acceptable." I hope this could help and your Motor Vehicle Dept. will accept that.
