Stay warm and leave some of the heavy work to the gnomes!

Good idea to do it while Wiley sleeps, better idea to get the neighbours to help, and I'm sure they'll be quite willing. It was hot here today, but my sis from out west posted pictures of snow on her FB page. Weather works from west to east, so am expecting that beautiful white stuff to come around here soon.

Re: Did you ever learn to siphon gas from a car? I had guy cousins

Hahah! I've done that, but today's vehicles have inserted a stopgap - doesn't work anymore. Maybe with the water though....

Did you ever learn to siphon gas from a car? I had guy cousins

who'd "borrow" a couple gallons from their dad's car. If you know the technique, you might be able to siphon the water from the barrel.

You need 6-8' length of rubber or plastic hose - (smaller in diameter than a garden hose, maybe 1/2"). Put one end maybe 10 or 12 inches deep into the water, blow into the other end, and QUICKLY drop it. The outside end must be well below water level. When you blow bubbles into the water it leaves that end of the hose empty. When you quit blowing the water will rush in to fill the vacuum, and since the open end of the hose is lower, gravity will continue to suck water out of the barrel. If it happens too fast, you could get a mouthful of rain water. I remember sometimes my cousins ended up smelling like gasoline.

Kabu

It is cold there, brrr! And you must be careful doing all those chores! If you are injured, who will care for Wiley? Surely not the gnomes... Love the picture and Maxine, and I wish you and Wiley a Happy Wednesday also!
