Good morning GM,
Thank you very much for your thoughtful and considerate response. I have had a disability since birth. Using a wheelchair is all I know. It must be very hard for your Mom, never having needed a wheelchair to suddenly need one.
I am also so terribly sorry to hear that she complains and has a death wish. Perhaps if she were more comfortable, her attitude would change for the better. I can imagine and empathize with your frustration.

You inquired about me and my mother, and I thank you for your compassionate inquiry. I find here that you are having difficulty with the comfort of your wheelchair, and my mother is having the exact same problem in the nursing home. She reluctantly went to a nursing home (a very good one) 3 weeks ago, and she hates their wheelchair. It is too narrow, and the armrests are too hard. This is the first time she has had to use a wheelchair. I told her that we can buy a new wheelchair for her, that is more comfortable, but she doesn't want to bother with it.
She has this disturbing tendency to complain about something, many things, and then reject any suggestion we may have, to fix the problem. Her so-called solution, sadly, is just to die. She prays to God every day, to take her, for the past 4 years, since her husband (my father) passed away.
Her pain and her difficulties are many, but she needs to realize that she might live many more years, and she needs to let us help her. But for many years, she will not let us help her. That is the main problem, that she is causing for herself.
I will pray that you can find a more comfortable wheelchair, and I will pray that my mother will even allow me to try to find a more comfortable wheelchair for her, because for many years, she will not allow such help. It is very frustrating.
Thanks for your concern and compassion, which I can see is very plentiful, for all. I wish my mother was more like you. Cheers

Oh, that is a long time to have a chair not fitting properly. I hope they can get it right or else get you a new one soon. Sorry to hear that.
