Thank you for your service. My husband is a Navy vet & is disabled. Due to something he was born with, but, didn't manifest until his 30's. When he was out of the military. Even if had still been in, it wasn't caused by them, which is why, he won't be able to get benefits from them, but, still qualifies for permanent disability. We're in the process of getting a claim together.
