It all depends what one is thinking ,I suppose Taps. Although one cannot help but feel honored when so many are acclaiming their allegiance to ones country.

The new attitude of NFL players who should feel thankful for their success at an early age is future shock.

Very well put. As a proud Canadian I would never kneel when my anthem is played, but I would not force those who want to kneel for all kinds of reasons to get up. Whether I agreed with their 'cause' or not...

Dear Taps,
your words are really just about the most sensible and straight talking that I have heard and believe me one cannot turn on the TV without hearing.
Does a man go down on one knee to propose marriage to his chosen love because he disrespects her? No it is a show of utmost respect, a pledge of fealty to her that she may accept or not.

I too have thought about this matter alot.... and though I would also stand, if my friend was down on one knee, I may join them, or at least extend my arm around their back, for their pain does not change my pride.

Re: Re: TAPS
I'm relieved to hear that, but is there something they can do for that? Do use the walker; it's much safer, as I'm sure you know. I had a taste of losing equalibrium lately with my last sinus/ear infection. I tried to get up in the morning and it seemed the bed was coming up at me! Three or four days like that, and still a touch of it. No fun.

Re: RPresta
I'm fine except for my equilibrium. I've got to remember that I need the support of my walker to help keep my balance.

Oh, my! I just read that you fell! I hope you are not injured too seriously. Perhaps a call to the doc may be in order, but I hope not.

You and Pascal have nailed it, imho. I have personally perceived a visual of people taking a knee AND Pledging Allegiance or singing our Anthem! A beautiful, thought-provoking and heart-felt post, dear lady. Your wisdom is admirable.
