Re: Naut

I've lived through two of the worst hurricanes on record.  I was in Hurricane Andrew's path in Florida many years ago.  And only a few years ago, I was part of the mandatory evacuation for Hurricane Sandy in the northeast.   It was terrifying.  I love the ocean, but perhaps I will consider being near a large lake as an option if/when I move from this area.

Re: RPresta

The timing is so strange... but it's also not.  We will know better tomorrow as to what actually happens.

Re: shellyb

The east coast should be spared the worst.   It will still be messy, but it won't be washed away.

Re: Kabu

thanks Kabu... it all still remains to be seen.  It's such a slow moving storm.... but the forecast is still not good.

I really hope not all will be lost when the waters recede, as they certainly will. I am watching all this from my very safe place up here by Lake Ontario, one of the safest areas in all of North America, and I almost feel guilty, which is absurd, of course...But I shall make a contribution to the Hurricane Irma Relief fund, and urge everyone to do the same...

Oh, I do hope your place will fare well through this. As I hope the best for all of those affected. In your case, it's a special place of old memories. But remember, you can begin new memories in a new special place if need be in the future. Here's hoping for the best.

I have friends down there, as well. Last night she said they were staying until it was over.  I'm hoping she changes her mind and leaves!

My childhood second home is going to be washed away as well.  My grandparents moved to Hollywood when they retired.  I loved their home!  Sad to think it might be gone after this is over.

No one is at fault when it comes to acts of nature...I guess we humans take a risk and build in earthquake areas, Wild fire zones and Cyclone, Monsoon, Hurricane and Tornadoe alleys and then look for someone to blame.

I oray that your friends are safe and that your house survives but it doesn't look good I am afraid.
