Re: Blackcat

Certainly, all the good, the bad, and the ugly of history should be taught.

Blackcat

History has been slanted or modified by the liberals for decades now, by what they teach, or choose not to teach, the kids in schools, which are much more liberal these days. Getting rid of Confederate statues is just another way to modify or erase history,  because the libs don't like it.  They will still teach the Confederacy as evil incarnate in their "history" classes, and they will hold the liberal democrats as historically blameless for slavery and racism, which is a lie. The KKK started off among Democrats in the South, with Senator Robert Byrd (D) as one of their leaders, hopefully before he was a senator.  If we are going to teach history, we should teach ALL of it, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The extremists on both / all sides need to lighten up, but of course they won't... that is why they are extremists.  I think the haters of the Confederate statues are definitely extremists, perhaps even racists themselves, and their extreme demands should be ignored or countered by the rest of us. The Civil War was fought for reasons besides slavery.  That was a factor yes, but slavery was not what the war was all about.  Isn't it enough that the South lost the war and was then oppressed by the North, even worse than before the war?  Let them keep their historic statues.

I think banning 'Gone With the Wind' is over the line. I think everyone needs to get the majors and minors reset.

The statue talk is all the rage these days.

I haven't heard of anyone trying to eliminate history.  Gone with the Wind is a classic and should remain so.

I always find it sad that people take a single incident and try to blow it into something else to prove their point, rather than to focus on the meaning of the single event.   Reminds me of the gun issue.... where any suggestion of better controls turns into a hysterical outcry of taking away all our guns!  lol   It's sad but funny too.
