Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: strat

That's another good Dire Straits song!   I also have a soft spot for Twisting by the Pool (my friend's dad used to play that during the summer... by his pool.  LOL)

You have me listening to the Monkees now.... I loved them as a kid.  Last Train to Clarksville and Stepping Stone bring back memories...

Re: Re: Re: Re: strat

RIght now we do Pleasant Valley Sunday -- a lot of greqat harmony vocals in that one.

My all time rave fave Dire Straits tune is Skateaway -- and that album is my favorite album of theirs -- Making Movies -- a desert island album for sure.

Re: Re: Re: Naut

What spots would you hit in the White Mountains?   I'll probably only have one day there if I stop.   Also, assume you've been to Acadia too?

Wirhout sounding trite, in my own backyard. Guess all I'd need are the red slippers...

Re: Re: Taps

The Oregon Coast is the best, from one end to the other.  Portland area is great, though I haven't been there for a while, Mount Hood area, the redwood forest, so many things to see and do.  But my favorite is Colorado's Rocky Mountains.  If you go to Telluride, the most fun way to go is four-wheeling over the mountains from Ouray on Black Bear Pass.

Re: Re: strat

Well -- we are a deep cut classic rock band, so a gamut of more obscure Cream, Vanilla Fudge, Beatles, Grand Funk, Badfinger, Allman Brothers, Doobie Brothers, and even a couple of Raspberries and Monkees tunes thrown in.

Of course, due to my chronic case of Lead Guitar-Itis, I have to play Dire Straits' Sultans of Swing -- basically, if I can get through that tune, I'm sober enough to drive home.

Re: Re: Naut

Yes, it's just 'happy detour', LOL - I live in Toronto (well, in the GTA). And I love the White Mountains - they too are well worth the trip...Another thing, and as a Canadian I hate to have to say that - I always find the American customs officers far more pleasant than the Canadian ones. But maybe they're just being idiots to fellow Canadians...

Re: Naut

Just realized you mentioned Lake Champlain... now I can better envision your route... what are your thoughts on the White Mountains?  I've never been and trying to decide if it's worth the detour on the way to/from Acadia or not....

Re: Taps

Of those on my list where you have visited... comments or thoughts?

Re: Naut

Thank you for the ideas!!!   I would love to continue onward to NB... have always wanted to see Nova Scotia or even PEI... but that would add several hours/days... and a passport.  I think that's a trip for itself (which I will add to my list)!

I'm confused about where you live... I thought it was in Canada... but you travel thru New England to get home?   Just making a happy detour?

The previous 'comment' - one of my typing idiocies, LOL! I meant to suggest that when you go to Maine, you might want to take a trip into New Brunswick, which is also very nice! When I drive down to Nova Scotia, a fairly frequent occurrence, I often drive back home through N.B., Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, taking the ferry across Lake Champlain. A gorgeous trip, and I take at least a couple of days...About finding 'calm' times - for me it's walking with my doggie in the woods. And he's all better now. All the stitches are out, and even most of mthe fur has grown back...

I haven't been to Maine but I have been to several of the places that you mention.  I always loved to travel, especially in the US, but my traveling days are over.  I love being able to check out places on the Internet all over the worlod.
