Re: Nautikos

It is a thrilling sight and must be so exciting to see in person. You're welcome for the link and I'm very glad you enjoyed seeing  it. Thank you!

Great poem, and thanks for the link! I have seen that race and the pomp and circumstance surrounding it before (not in person, unfortunately), and enjoyed it again...

Re: FSI

Yes, horses are, or were big in parts of Italy. They bred special war horses in Calabria at one time. Indeed, the Preakness is the second leg of the Triple Crown, and I love all three parts of it! Whoohoo!

Re: Aba bro

Well, Aba, there are many who feel as you do about bullfighting. That's why it is and has been considered a sport. Dirt bike riding may be similar in some ways to horseback riding; I don't know. That's too bad you had such a frightening experience on a horse. My first horseback riding lesson was on a jumper, and she went for the fence! The instructor caught her by the bridle just in time.

I did not know that horseracing was big in Italy...In Maryland, horseracing is big, too. We have the second crown jewel of the Triple Crown, the preakness.

Dear Presta big sis

Although Bullfighting was banned and horse racing took its place, somehow bullfighting, to me, appears so manly. Horse racing is equally exciting. Once I fell off a horse and was almost trampled by another. Must have been my mistake I suppose. At one time I was fascinated also by dirt track bike riding

Re: chuck_ibrahim

Thank you. I understand now. I also enjoy horse racing very much.

I should have continued my sentence by saying that I am glad that they changed it from bull fight to a horse race. I love watching horse racing.

Re: chuck_ibrahim

Yes, Chuck, that's the whole point, no bull fighting! So was the Grand Duke of Tuscany in 1590, when he banned it from the city. A horse race ultimately took its place. This is a horse race, not a bull fight. We agree with you. And thank you, also!
