Re: History teacher friend of mine says she never eats grapes, as
Well Pat I immerse mine in Baby bottle Mllton . I don't wash fruit straight from the tree.
Apple pips are also pretty nasty. I expect we are immune to a lot of things I would be more worried about toxic sprays than normal air pollutants,or babies being pushed alongside vehicles that cannot be good for then.

Re: Lanetay
Beats me L T Some people do not mind as the maggot has vacated its home. We often eat around one no probs. Not all will though I bet there are quite a few in the cider.

Re:
Do you know Bill the White Dahlias do not seem to last as long as the others, perhaps they are more delicate.

Now that it is raining nearly daily, my garden is making a try at growing and leafing and even blooming again. Well, one salvia is blooming again.

Re: C_C_T
Thank you RP I must confess I eat apples or plums straight off the tree, I think I am immune to local bugs. Foreign stuff is different one does not know how it has been handled. I know I had to make a little disclaimer, goodness I wonder why I write stuff like that. It must be subconsciously .

Re: Kabu
The more one cuts the more blooms appear. I don't like the dark nearly black ones but they are very saleable.

I use a vegetable/fruit wash and rinse my produce thoroughly. And I try to buy organic food. I do peel apples and have since the 80s when the Alzar issue was brought into focus. I did enjoy your poem and the build-up to the ending.

History teacher friend of mine says she never eats grapes, as
their shape is designed to catch the most possible air pollutants, and they're very difficult to wash properly. And she peels apples, etc. Read something yesterday about a guy who died from breaking open cherry pits and eating the inner seeds - it seems they're loaded with arsenic... I love dahlias, they make a grand showing in a garden, no wonder he sold them all. (I wonder if the pollutants hang on if one makes wine out of the grapes?)
