I'm having a very hard time with the heat this year. I work in a kitchen during the day, and then come home to a non-central air conditioned apartment. I can't even imagine being homeless, in this heat. At least when I was homeless I was staying in a shelter that had air, food, and plenty of water.
The numbers of murders are very high this year. Everywhere! What the heck is wrong with people?

It always amazes me when so many good people want to help others,
and makes me very happy to see the reaching out to those in need. Couple of ladies from The Center here, who are eligible for food stamps themselves, never miss a day of cooking and serving at the Methodist Church across the street where they give out free meals to kids who normally get free school lunches.
I read somewhere online that St. Louis is the most dangerous city - I know there are murders, road-rage incidents, drive-by shootings and carjackings every newscast. Poverty is the root of all that I think. I hope Kansas City is safer.

Re: Naut
All murders are shocking to me, and I have known in past years some who were murdered, and some who were murders. I never get over being shocked.

That murder rate is shockingly high! In Toronto, by June 1 (last figure I could find) we had 19. But then, consider Chicago: Lower population than the GTA, but they have had 388 so far...

There seems to be no relief in sight for the heat. My heart goes out to the homeless who have to deal with these tough weather conditions...Baltimore itself is on pace for another 300+ murder year.
