A tough one to write Naut. Most of us have followed Bennie's progress over the years. It was unsuspected. Dogs do not usually actually attack, but make a show if on a lead. Something wrong with the other one, but not much one can do apart from carrying a good stick in future .

Poor baby,  give that beautiful dog some liverwurst.

Oh that poor guy. I just can't help it, this makes me cry...

So unnecessary.  Hope he's much better by now.

OMG your poor old puppy... he must be traumatized and in so much pain.  This is horrible.  They owe you for more than just the vet's bill!!

Damn - I remember going through that and it's NOT pleasant! Grump hated the collar too, so I put a T-shit on him and he couldn't get at his stitches which were pretty much the same place as Bennie. Poor baby!! I feel for him! And I do hope Josie's owners pay up - the guy whose dogs did the number on Grump never did. Hug that Bennie for me, please...but very gently.

Naut

How awful,  Benny being attacked without warning by a vicious dog off-leash.  How lucky that you were not bitten yourself,  trying to separate them.  Sounds like the funnel collar was a needless precaution by the doctor,  that caused added stress.  I am glad you took it off.  You and Benny will be in my thoughts and prayers.  Cheers,  no, not this time

Nautikos

Omigod! What a horror! Poor Bennie, and poor family! Bennie is a smart guy and seems to be in great shape for his age, and my heart goes out to you, him and your family. I'm so sorry. I know the sadness of hearing the whimper of pain in the middle of the night. Our last doggie had bone cancer and after well over a thousand dollars (it was $3,000 for Sam, the dog before him), and that's with doggie insurance, they said they could amputate his leg, but it would only give him six more months at the most. At the end, his pain meds were no longer effective and I would sit with him in the night until he'd sleep a few hours, while he whimpered in his sleep. I'm glad Bennie was able to go out today, and hope he continues to improve - and that those people pay up! (One for Bennie.)
