Mixed feelings about this...

I do love a good cracking, dramatic thunderstorm, but especially during storm season in this high desert country between the Plains and the Rockies, wildfire is always a terrible risk.  Sometimes in summer the humidity here is in single digits: think of a match, and something will catch!

That sounds very scary. Fortunately, I have never come close to lighting, although I certainly have seen it a ton.

I'm sure it was just old Thor throwing his hammer around again! He does that when he gets into one of his moods...

I love a good thunderstorm, but hate it when they decide to get vicious.

Years ago in another time and place my sons and I were enjoying our porch swing and being dry on the porch while a light rain came down and one of those loud cracks hit.  It totally freaked us out and a bit later firetrucks all came because it had hit an old stone school building near by, and the roof was on fire.  It was totally gutted by the fire.  It was close enough that we watched the whole thing from our front porch.
