If Stephen Hawkins Aliens landed and were aggressive, probably everyone would unite and fight off the invaders. I enjoy reading your blogs Naut, but  do not know the answers.

I think that other pursuits (oil, votes) along with ignorance and stupidity are the cluster of culprits in play. War has evolved a lot over the past 100 years or so. A lot of redefining is going to have to happen to defeat the enemy.

thank you for responding to my question, but I'm still not sure I understand the answer.  We cannot fight with guns, but then how do we fight something we can't even see?   How do we know who is the true enemy without being reactive?   And how can we fight an entire religion that is scattered about the world?  I used to say that education was the only answer... but with the internet, the world is so much closer now than it's ever been, and things seem to only be worse.

I have no answer to your ending questions.  I don't really think anyone has any answers.  We are all fumbling around in the dark on this matter.

I apologize for lacking a vibrant verbal display of military expertise, or any miiltary expertise for that matter (lol), but I go with 'ignorance' as my answer to your last question. Ignorance often accounts for stupidity, and precedes it many times. It seems to me, war means to fight. Therefore, simply put, one wins a war by fighting better than one's opponent. The definition of what that better is, and how to achieve it, could be a major part of the issue here, I think. Thank you, as always, Naut.

Re: Nobody wins a war, no matter what the history books say.

Well, Pat, sometimes the history books do know better - usually written by people who really know what they're talking about! Nobody denies that 'So much is lost, so many are forever damaged or destroyed'...but there can be wins. The Allies did win WWII, a defensive war that was necessary! At least the Brits were resolved not to live under a Nazi regime. It took the US a little longer, but was the country simply supposed to sit back and accept the attack on Pearl Harbor?

The question is ultimately this: do we want to defend ourselves and our way of life, or do we not? But you're absolutely right in saying the fronts are harder to define and to defend - which is why we need to adopt an entirely different strategy, one that doesn't necessarily involve guns at all! For I am convinced that we cannot defeat Islam with arms, even if we must try and protect ourselves as much possible against Muslim 'terrorism', which is only part of the jihad, the war against us...

Re:

Yes, Kabu, everybody is making money of everybody else and there is no difference between what people think and say or not think and say, and everything is a big stew anyway, and people will die in war...So why bother...

Nobody wins a war, no matter what the history books say.

So much is lost, so many are forever damaged or destroyed, there is no win.  Those who sell arms and war materiel may end up with more money, which may seem like a win to some. As for the way war is waged - the terrorist hit & run, etc., I think the cyber wars are just as scary, if not so physical. The "fronts" are harder to define and defend.

every body left and right support every body. It is called lucrative arms dealing and countries depend upon it. No side is exempt and while that goes on all around the \world civilians will die in conflicts.

Afer all of your journalling about Islam it was important to read that we in the west are having war raged upon them by Islam rather than the other way round.
