The catholic church I grew up in is just up the street from where I live.  I don't go to church anymore, but I still remember the hymns from back in the day.  Sometimes I will catch myself singing a few of them.

I dont have the memories of church as you do, I was baptised in a church in LA I am sure since that is where I was born.  I grew up in a Lutheran church for many years as I was confirmed there and went to sunday school with a perfect attendance.  Did not get married in church but in Las Vegas.  My children took confirmation classes there and were baptised there and one was married there.  You have brought memories that had faded in the back of my mind

Faith gave a lot of folk strength and friendship, sadly missing today. Too many dibs and dabs going on today, leaves no time for reflection.  Lovely blog Taps.

You have a lot of fond memories of the church.

Being Catholic, I was baptized when I was a baby so I do not remember it. The priest just poured some Holy Water on my head.

I do remember my sister's baptism. I fell off the pew and screamed very loudly.

The music stays with us, doesn't it. Takes us right back to those

days of yesteryear... This post would be right at home in one of those Chicken Soup for the Soul books...

Re: -blackcat

I looked up my favorite so you could hear it.  My Sister and I would sing it all the way home after choir practice to keep our fears in check in the dark of night as we walked home.

Very interesting - a virtual avalanche of memories...But I had never heard of a sound booth in a church! Of course I will admit- I don't know much about churches...🌷☺
