Re: Kabu,

He literally imprisoned her for meddling in his affairs, personal and of state. She was intent on making her favorite son his successor, and she went to war against Henry, also literallyn and lost, but she did outlive him by around 15 years.

The second one didn't he virtually make his wife a prisoner so that she wouldn't medal in affairs ever again.

Well keep your cool as long as you can. Glad you enjoyed the films.

Those two actors had the voice and diction to play those roles

to the nth degree.  I thought the actors' real fondness for one another brought a lot to the roles they played, but that may have been just good acting. Whether it's the roles they are given or something else, not many have it these days.  Hope we get a day or so of cool respite.

Re: Correction

I stand corrected, Eleanor was not riding pillion in the picture, but alongside of him, which makes more sense.

OMG, I had Eleanor of Aquitaine on my mind today and also, more specifically, The Lion in Winter. I do so enjoy that movie. The dialogue is sharp, quick and witty, imho. I even pulled up a pic of Eleanor riding pillion with Henry, though I wonder... However, she was definitely quite a strong lady, going on Crusade!
