Hi kids,

Thanks for dropping by! Haven't been too interactive of late -- but I am around, reading and clicking! Hope all is well with everyone -- and turn off those silly GPS thingies!

Loved this post! The GPS thingy also spends quite a while telling one how to leave one's house and neighborhood. If I'm in that bad of a mental condition, I shouldn't be leaving anywhere! Several years ago after a long road trip, nearing 1 a.m., the GPS went haywire outside of Sacramento, after overshooting the target! It was a nightmare until the paper lifesaver with the colorful lines was brought out to study!

Mine kept telling me to head back home after I had gone a few miles. So I never got very far, but it had a lovely voice.

Great post.  Made me remember lots of things that I hadn't thought about in years.

I love maps... and I also like my GPS as I use it more as a navigating tool than a turn by turn instructor.  However, what I hate most about GPS is that when planning a road trip, it is very difficult to see the entire route it "thinks" you should take.  I want to be able to tell it which bridge I want to cross or which route I want to take!   The logic may say which way is "shortest" but it's not always BEST!

Strat's post...always priceless...

Maps!!! In Australia the worst city to drive around is the Federal Capitol Canberra where the roads all seem to go round and round with no off ramp. You want to go to the Building of Government on Federation Hill or the National War Memorial...You can point it out to the kids gone quiet in the back seats as you sail on by for the third time around.

My first husband and all always fought over the map in Canberra until one day I opened the window and threw it out. It was useless anyway.

Not ever wanting to divorce each other, Wiley and I do not have a GPS, OY, SPG, or whatever else  you like to mention in our car!!!
