sad to say, my sense of smell is probably my least in tune... unless it's very strong smelling, I don't tend to notice. Not always a good thing!

Scents connect us to memories almost more than anything else, yet it is such a subtle thing. I remember after years away, driving from Long Island across Manhattan, assailed by all the summer smells--ragweed and tar and over-roasting coffee--and it all came with floods of the feeling of familiarity, of childhood, of being back home, back then...

Ah yes - Basil and Cilantro! Both of them my favorite herbs! And you're right about scents, of course, but our world is mainly a visual one! We can only wonder (and I often do, LOL) about my Bennie's world, which is dominated by 'landscapes' of scents...

there used to be a party game years ago when family got together...big sis and i would find some pleasant odors like lavender and Avon and soap and some nasty farm ones and people had to guess. it used to get everyone laughing and having fun.
