My husband's Uncle Jakie had a pig farm about 50 miles from here.  He raised them totally on cement.  But in spite of that the place stunk to high heaven.  You could smell them a mile away.  Aunt Lucille got tired of the smell and people complaining about the stink, so she "talked" him into quitting that and going into raising sheep that grew lots of special wool.  Then she had to help them with their birthing every spring.

Well you did your best, and I am glad Slops did not have to go to the big meat factory in the sky. And never a word of a dilling.

Slops is a cute name for a pig...Many people have connected with their farm animals.

I never got that well acquainted with the pigs on the Lincoln Creek

farm - the year I was 13.  Didn't care for the way they smelled, to tell the truth. But I loved the spring calves. Old Sam let his cows go up in the woods and hills to graze and they didn't have to come back to the barn unless they were milking - and sometimes they'd have their calves and hide them the way deer do. We'd go out hunting them and bring them back to the near pasture. My favorite was a Holstein with a heart-shaped blaze on her face.

Kabu

What a great name for a pig! You tended them well. Good for you. And such interesting info about pigs in your post. Well, I'm just glad Slops didn't go to market! Did you get to keep the money from the sales?
