Sadly Kabu it is not always those who talk about depression.

I knew a cousin had an extra helping of strawberries and then departed.

I suppose if life is a misery one might be better off drugged to the eyeballs.

At least it would not be so painful to the loved ones.

One can ended it all but one should think of the pain that such a departure leads

 to those behind.

wow, that's such a tough question.  Though you can tell someone endlessly that things will get better, they sometimes can't hear it.  I hope he's able to get help and I think you did them a great service by being honest.

Every so often, euthanasia gets debated in Maryland. It is a very difficult question to answer and to think about with a wide variety of answers.

You did good to try to help them both.  It is something that everyone should be educated on, for it happens to so many families and causes so much grief.

There is a time to refer someone in so much pain to an expert.

The son may not be grateful for the interference, but life keeps options open, where death is final. From what you say, I would say that time has arrived. The father can call 911, if in the US, or his local suicide hotline to get a helpful referral.

Kabu

How sad and emotionally draining, and how difficult for his family. It's tough to know what is the right thing to say. There is no right answer sometimes.

Kabu

It's sad! But it's one of those situations where I really don't know what to say...

It's an impossible situation - to be the father as well as to be the one

he turns to for advice. Sometimes the situation that causes depression is factual and overwhelming, and sometimes it is that individual's perception that things are hopeless. Wish I had the answer. Wish anyone did...
