Yes Pat and the irony was we were usually too frozen to measure it , I have often thought we probably worked for hardly a pittance. It was just that things were different then.

Since we never used parafin in our neck of the woods, I've been

wondering if it was liquid as you delivered it, was it used to make candles, as fuel for cooking -but the work of getting it delivered just sounds miserable.  Glad it's easier now.
