We had a couple class clowns in grade school. the most notorious was joey. he loved stirring the pot.

Entertaining as always! And right too - 'Re-education' is by many seen as the panacea du jour for all our problems; and its advocates are usually driven by a well developed totalitarian impulse...

I agree with you on the over-medication of everyone... kids and adults alike.

Good post.  Way back I had experience with a couple of those in a Sunday School Class.  It was a lot of work trying to make it interesting enough to those boys so they would participate in what they were supposed to participate in and not in trouble they created on their own.

Ah dose ,em all to the gills. That way saves a lot of crancky parents and gives the teacher a break. Who can afford special classes for the really intelligent children or the ones needing remedial help. It isn't ADDOPQRSTT... it is mostly 

a...boredom because the work is too easy

b... boredom because the poor kid doesn't understand a thing

c... the kid is gunna be real good either as a sports jock or a plumberor driving a big piece of machinary. Not everyone can be an academic not everyone wants to be.
