Re: Pat,
Driving across town I noticed a deer crossing sign at one of the busiest streets, but the wild places are not far off, and we've seen deer, raccoons, and foxes here. In a big wilderness park that sits in the middle of the residential and business areas, Palmer Park, thre have been sightings of a cougar.
In this residential/urban environment, I think the animals also adapt to what they find here.

Re: CCT
That's what I read, that crows and grackles will kill baby birds. I know for my cat, it would be way too much effort to get to them in the nest, though once they are on the ground, she would certainly go for them!

Well I don't know what bird destroyed the baby robins, I am pretty sure it was not the cat. A jackdaw and a Magpie are the main suspects.

Sometimes city life is too far from the bird and critter vignettes that
folks at the edge of the woods enjoy. Sounds like you've found a happy medium.

Flickers have mighty strong beaks. One used to visit my bird feeder and when he did the other birds gave him a wide berth because in a stingy way, he would peck at them. Glady your baby doves are OK.
