I had an art teacher in high school who told me I would only ever be any good as a fashion designer, like that was something not good! I was crushed. Then I won a sculpting contest at my high school. (Forgot all about that part.) Anyway, I was discouraged from painting or drawing after that comment, and never took another art class, in college or elsewhere.

I had a high school music teacher that wouldn't allow me to play in the jazz band and orchestra without also being in the marching band... which was a shame because I was really good and chose to quit.

university english professor who asked me if I would stop writing if he gave me his opinion of my writing? I stopped writing for years but thankfully I am back to writing and loving it!

I had a teacher who wanted me to apply to college, but I was
determined to get a job & didn't actually get a degree till I was 50. I always thought she was more confident of my ability than I was. Also, doodling as I listen to a lecture, even if it's taking notes between doodles, helps me remember the teacher's words. It's a focus mechanism.
