Re: shelly_b
Yeah, that's a dirty trick. I did it once to my husband when he was under the hood trying to fix something. He banged his head and he had a fit.

One time I was in the car with my sister-in-law. We were at a stop light and an older man was crossing on foot in front of us. She honked her horn, and scared the poor guy. She was laughing. I was not. I didn't speak to her the rest of the day I was so mad at her!

Re: FSI
My older sister who has now passed away also loved to honk the horn and did it so much that I would not ride with her because it was so embarrassing. If we went somewhere together, I made her ride with me.

My sister Ann loves to honk the car horn. Heck, she will reach over when I am driving to honk it. She is a character.

Re: Re: strat
Well, maybe I was being a little tongue in cheek. But Mr. Finger Puppet does appear far too often, seemingly of his own free will.

years ago, I witnessed road rage that turned into a fist fight. Someone cut out in front of another driver and when he honked, the guy flipped him the bird. The one who was flipped off then chased the guy down and road blocked him... got out and pulled him from the car and beat his face in.
It takes a lot to make me angry and I try to keep it off the road. I feel that you never know who you're dealing with.

Re: strat
I wonder what is the percentage of drivers who are just like that? Scary. (or were you just being your funny self?)

Unfortunately, I do all the things they say you shouldn't do.
It's because I have no patience. Friends honk to say hey and my reflex action, from years of fighting traffic elsewhere, is to provide an instant and animated display of Mr. Digit. Someone tailgates me and I stare balefully into my rear view.
It's going to end badly one day, and it will be my fault...

Most of the time I won't let other drivers own any part of my day
by raising my ire - but when one comes roaring up behind and honking, while I am stopped waiting for cross traffic, it does make me want to raise my hand in the one-finger salute...

Ever since I was on my forties I have been honked by male drivers. I take no notice of them and tell Wiley not to worry. I refuse to speed and it drives men to rage if they can't fly off past me. i ignore their rage and rude hand signals as they fly past eventually. I figure that they see little old lady in the car...perhaps it used to be a blonde...and for whatever reason because I won't speed it drives them nuts. I am glad that I live in a country where people don't drive everywhere with a gun.
