I am a firm believer that if you love someone every day should be Valentine's

one would like to think so but back then ... the snobs and popular crowd made sure to snub anyone not a member of their groups

I remember those days of handing out Valentine's Day cards back in school. The rule, though, was that one had to do it with all of one's peers or not at all. Nobody tested the rule, so people ended up getting a fair amount of cards, even those who were not the most popular.

everything always goes too far. I think it is terrible for some children to get no cards but when everyone has to have one for every one in the class it is all lost in political correctness. Couldn't a teacher have some to slip on desks that says from a friend or something.

I think I can hardly remember such a day, but a lot of these special days have worked their way across from USA and become valid to younger folk. I did notice a terrible lot of unsold roses in the store yesterday, perhaps the ladies would prefer a bottle of fizz.

Each area is different. At least here. Some schools don't have that. We all gave out valentines and we all got them, as I remember. I have my mother's valentines from grade school in the 1920s in a special acid proof album. They are beautiful.
