A Children's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson was the first book my mom read to me (figures, lol). I enjoyed the Golden Books; Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes and Tales; later all the Little House books. But you can't go by me; I read everything, even my dictionary and the want ads! My own kids and grandkids liked different books.

I had a book of nursery rhymes "Mother Goose" that I kept reading
over and over at various times until I moved away from home... Then bought copies for my children, although the reprint didn't have all the ones I remembered. Loved the pic of Old Mother Goose in a peaked hat, riding a broom...

Just about everything from Beverly Clearly, the one being Dear Mr. Henshaw that sticks out in my mind the most. She turned 100 last year.
