I don't know ,I wonder if you get too involved in other folk's problems and it takes a toll.
It cannot be easy trying to remain neutral when dealing with emotional problems of others much of the time. Your friend obviously wants your company, it all creates pressure. I think most would find it tough going if they were in your place.

We all cope in different ways. The boob tube is good for that. I also love to get lost in a good book

It is a really bad day for me if I don't write and read something.
However the years that I was full time nursing, I had to keep my eye on the time span, often went to sleep sitting up with a book in my hand.
