You should take a peek at my post about the Electoral College, if you haven't already. I think that one strong current of this epic political conflict is rural VS urban, country VS city. It is one of the main ways that our country is divided. The rural country folk are becoming a minority. Don't they (we, since I am one myself) deserve protection, like all the other minorities dear to the liberal heart? Such as LGBTQ, etc.....
And on the 19th, earlier this week, the Electoral College served its purpose to protect that rural minority. All true liberals should be celebrating this, LOL

Good post and good points. Might I suggest that you use a bit larger font. That one is very small and difficult to read, for me and perhaps others. I have started using a larger font recently, myself.
Politics seems to swing like a pendulum. The excesses and extremes of one side cause a reaction, and the power swings to the other side. Let us hope that Trump and gang don't go too far. I don't like Trump, but I do see hope that he will compromise, and not be like Obama, the liberal progressive radical zealot. Liberal politics was far more important to Obama than the welfare of the American people, and the rest of the world.
But to understand what is happening, you must first really realize the liberal extremes that Obummer, Hellary and gang took us to in the last 8 years. Obama had a goal to reduce America's power, and he succeeded all too well. He has erased much of our gains and thrown us into chaos. Like you said, understand the history, or you are doomed to repeat it.
