Fascinating - as anyth9ing about dogs would be to me. Glad to hear that Bennie is doing better, poor wee lad.

That is a very interesting possibility and one that can help explain a lot, I imagine.

If you see any grey wolves Naut . Quite interesting of course the early wolves could have been a different specimen and those domesticated followed one path and the wild ones another. Well it's only a thought.

Nautikos

Quite interesting, Naut, and I have heard the theory of possibly two (if not more) separate domestication events concerning dogs, but your post brought me up to date. It does seem quite probable to me. Thanks you, it was a fun read.

Interesting.  Peter's dog was sarloo-looking....ice-blue eyes and markings.  He had him from the time he was two until just before he went into the U.S.Marines.  He was sad when the doggie died.

Interesting life of the dog species.

My younger daughter has two yorkies. You know with Yorkshire

Terriers, you never have to own a doorbell.  The older one is named Justice, so when she got the pup, it was just natural to name her Liberty. Dogs are better than a Fitbit for making sure humans get their healthy walks every day.

BTW, this is very interesting about the dog genome, and the 32,000 years and 15,000 double dip of domestication. When I was 8 or 9 we had a half shepherd, half coyote named Jeepers.
