Re: Nautikos

Naut, good one. It wasn't about the Universe needing our help; it manages itself, whether in a random fashion or not (joke there). It was, in part, about the inherent good in most of humanity; most wishing to help each other; about not being self-absorbed; and about how, worldwide, since our beginnings we have looked to the skies and seen them as something greater than ourselves, therefore bestowing upon them a Power greater than ourselves, perhaps. One can read this in a religious or secular sense, I suppose. I am an equal opportunity maker of (almost) poems. LOL! I love your comment about a way the Universe may look at itself through human or other consciousness; quite deep.

Re: Lanetay

Sometimes it seems like there's a lot of noise going on, Lanetay. Thank you.

RP

An interesting poem makng an important point - not only does the Universe not need help (help with what, exactly, and to what purpose) but moreover it is entirely indifferent to our existence - even if human consciouness (and other kinds0 is the Universe's way to look at itself, LOL...

Yes indeed you must heed the call of silence and many a time it is too late and you realise that violence beget that anger. Great poem, very apt for what happens in the universe now.

Re: UKUSA

Yes, I agree about helping quietly. I'm not a teacher. No, I didn't mean flailing arms and thumping fists in the literal. lol. Thank you, UKUSA.

Re: Wow, are we getting a bit philosophical here?

Glad you liked it, kasper. Yes, I must stop that tendency to sound a bit philosophical. Yes, it's about all of us, not the protagonist. Thank you.

Such important thoughts here; but of course one can help ... quietly

I think you help being a teacher (only a guess), and what you try to do here on Blogit. I cannot imagine U thumping your fists, & flailing your arms at the sky! ShalomShalom

Wow, are we getting a bit philosophical here?

Well, don't worry. That doesn't bother me at all. I liked this poem. Especially the thing about the universe remaining silent until the protagonist realizes it's not about one person but every creature in the universe.

RPresta

Ah but with your poetry you add to the universe of those of us who read and love you.

The words "Be still and Know that I am God." come to mind. It is our noise that prevents us from hearing and you portray this beautifully here.

One cannot help but feel alone in such a situation.

It would be rather nice if one made the call and clearly heard  sweet music in reply. Of course we all seek the impossible at times. Oh! you can explain it better than I can. A good poem,

Re: TAPS

Exactly, TAPS! That's the point I was trying to convey. Oh boy, now I am mentally hearing "Silence of the Night" from Phantom...

"We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls."  ~ Mother Teresa

Re: Aba

I understand. When one hears the silence, one has attained that of which you speak. I perhaps didn't convey that point, dear Aba. At time clarity of thought through meditation or prayer, comes from striving for a period of inner silence, an awareness which then perhaps permits us to hear...

everything and everyone speaks in silence sometimes not what you say but what is left unsaid

Presta my friend. The speak of the silence is the all and end all of all that is. One day, it is my yearning to attain to utter silence.
