Oooh! Seems Like...
...I touched a nerve!

The big problem with standardising lessons and standardising tests is that they rerquire standardised people. And there's no such thing.

standardized testing fucks with the entire school system

Pardon my language, but as a regular teacher's pet throughout the years, I have come to attain certain knowledge about these standardized tests...

1. They prevent teachers from teaching lessons in the order they think is best because their students HAVE to know certain material by a certain date or they will flop the standardized tests.

2. The state requires teachers to stray from their regular lessons on or around  certain holidays such as Columbus day, Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, and the worst... BLACK HISTORY MONTH. The state tells the schools that for an entire month, black people are to be glorified. Or perhaps the Columbus Day lesssons are worse. I remember learning from my teachers that Columbus was some cool guy who had 3 boats, and a theory...  In reality, he was a malicious and cruel human being who had thousands of Natives slaughtered and/or enslaved.  Woohoo!!! Lets clap for Columbus!

But this standardized testing... its just nuts!!  Certified Teachers from all over their respective states get together to grade the essay questions for about 2 weeks straight while an under-qualified substitute takes over their classes... which 99% of the time results in the HALT of all studies... If you don't think the kids of today know how to intimidate substitutes from the age of 8 on, you are sadly mistaken.

And what do these tests do really? I don't see schools getting new grants because their scores on the Espa or the Hspa or whatever crazy initials were too low. Not that that would be a good thing to begin with...

The fact remains that the state spends millions of dollars to test every individual student in the state while disrupting all learning for a week at a time just to get through these 100 page or so tests. It's NUTS!!! Who elected the dumbasses who came UP with this???? "I know! Lets give the government MORE money so they can frustrate every teacher and student they possibly can while ceasing all regular lessons!!!"

??????????????

Someone find the logic in this system... PLEASE.
