I am the grandmother of four young men between the ages of 25 and 30 who are of mixed blood, but for all intents and purposes are black. They are busy about their lives, and productive citizens and I love them very much. I cannot imagine them meeting with life-altering or life-ending violence because of race, not black on black violence nor police violence. We never know what a day will bring and we all do the best we can to make life worthwhile. I imagine that Kaepernick was doing the best he could to try to make life right in his eyes.
