What a story! Though my knowledge of things mechanical is very limited - fixing a cracked block 'temporarily' sounds near-impossible to me, LOL...But why don't you share this new-found treasure with us...

You do make it sound simple and easy.

1,667 words a day is only about 3 pages, single spaced. If you decided to

input your mom's journal, a couple or three pages a day, you'd have the NaNoWriMo quota, easy-peasy... And once you're in the habit, an hour or so a day, cuppa tea at your side and the phone turned off - it gets so the day feels wasted when the writing isn't part of it.

Cars in those days were ropey at the best of times. Of course the roads were clear and ad venture beckoned; I hope your Sis will do you a copy, put the thumb screws on her.

I do not participate in that. 50,000 is way too much for me to write. With time constraints, I would really be forcing things to try. For me, 4,500 words are the happy medium for me.

I greatly admire those who can stick to it and write all the words to form a book! I know how you feel. You really could do it, though. The cracked block brought back memories of a young R, and broken car(s). Glad you found such a treasure.
