Re: Annivcita

Thank you so much. At first I was wondering whether thus one is at all fit for sharing or not? Then I decided it was. But I wasn't sure. Glad all of you have liked it.

Re: Kabu

You have created a good picture in my mind as to how things were, especially with the hypocrisy et al.

It is so very "human" that anyone could relate to it and enjoy.

It is great, and it is so original and yes I can see how it would win.

It reminds me as well of the temperance alliance people.. I was brought up Methodist and although my parents enjoyed a drink on occasion and more often socially as we grew up, the Aunties were always disgusted by any thoughts of alcohol. Anyway these sour faced...(what an awful thing for a child to think!) women would come to the Church service on occasion and preach about the evils of drink. They always made me want to do something naughty with their holier than thou attitude, like say "darn it all", or something.

PS The Methodist Church was very strictly against alcohol.

I can see how it won. It is very good.

Re: Thanks Presta

Good of you to tell me of that Movement. I wrote this one just on the spur of the moment.winning a prize was unimaginable and I was taken pleasantly surprised.

Not idiotic if it won you a prize, right? it's cute. Reminds me a bit of the Women's Temperance Movement (Women's Christian Temperance Union here in the US, and eventually part of Susan B. Anthony's claim to fame). In those times alcohol was a problem for many working class men, some of whom spent their paltry paychecks buying liquor and neglecting their families, or at least that's how these women viewed the situation. I enjoyed reading it and hearing the backstory.
