The closest I ever came to that was on The Trail. A kid told me he could not find his mother. Before I could say anything, she came from the opposite direction, saying she was right there. If she had not appeared, I would have asked him for her cellphone, hoping she had it on. If not, I would have called the local police and go from there.

My thoughts are more on the parents that leave their children alone in public. However, having said that, some kids are so fast... And yes, I think we all have come across that child in the store that got misplaced from from his/her parent. Abandoning a child is something else altogether.
