Re: Nautikos

Spot on, again! Yes, I can see that, and here is a possible reason why that is so. I once read that people who started out writing rhyming poetry still continue a bit with that cadence when transferring to writing free verse. Also, if one has written lyrics, that could be the case. In reality, the music is always there, a part of me, playing in the background of my mind. My mother, in addition to singing to us, read rhyming children's poetry to me as a toddler; I graduated to reading most of a book of hers, The Greatest Poems of the English Language, or something like that, at 9-10 years of age, which was also rhyming poetry. The first poems I "composed" (and that's a stretch - LOL) were rhyming poems/lyrics, long, long ago. Often, music and lyrics are playing in my head as a compose whatever writes itself. And my dad, in case anyone wonders, was a voracious reader, but not of poetry!

RP

Your poetry often has a melodic sense...And again, as Wiley also observed - this one also makes me think of a very slow, soft melody...
