You are welcome, glad you enjoyed!  Those fountains would be amazing from closer, and I grudgingly suppose they might be better than the Bellagio.  Ah, but I love the smell of burnt rubber in the morning  (ref: Apocalypse Now movie and the smell of napalm in the morning).

I was wondering the women thought of that niqab video..... does it disturb you like it disturbs me?

Wow!  Thanks for sharing all these.  That fountain is AMAZING!!!  I absolutely love it, from the view we got; I couldn't help wondering what it all looks like from ground level.  Anyway, it was hypnotic and I love that snaking pattern!  I wonder how many tires he went through filming that car video?!  I hate the smell of burning rubber and hate the noise when they do all that stuff....but, I love to WATCH it....and would love to be able to do it!

My Son and Dil went there last year for a conference...I don't think it was their most favorite place they have been to. Well DIL loves to shop but everything was too expensive and they really had to stay within strict boundaries.

Re: Nautikos

Oh, sorry - yes, I loved it - I'm a car guy anyway, LOL! The long one I haven't looked at yet! Maybe when I find a 'quiet moment'...

Dubai is a fascinating place, and yes - it is a paradox in many ways. However, it isn't so much 'the best and brightest expression of Islam', but 'the best and brigthest expression of international entrepreneurship,' flourishing there in spite of Islam. That's in large part to the enlightened policies by its ruler, Sheik Mohammad.

Which reminds me of my recent entry 'We have known about this for a long time…'. in which I posted a revealing article about the endemic levels of inbreeding in the Muslim world. Well, Sheik Mohammad's main wife (he's got two) is his first cousin, Sheika Hind. He's got 12 children with her, and the eldest, Rashid, a kind of super playboy, died last year of a 'heart attack' (but probably of a drug overdose)...

And they're very high on security, and may also make it possible for the many separate units of Allah's armies to safely bank their funds...
