I have a feeling that there will always be people dragging themselves up out of the poor class to join the middle class. For me the new middle class is Tradespeople. Plumbers, sparkys, carpenters, people who can understand how to keep modern vehicles on the road...
As for robot animals ...how stupid. No tin can could ever replace a waggy tail and the adoration that soft velvety eyes express. Or the warmth of a furry puss on your lap and the soothing sounds of a purr.
