Oh definitely. Yes, the war in Iraq had NOTHING AT ALL to do with the oil there. Excuse me, the Easter Bunny has just arrived with my goodies, so Alice and I are off to Wonderland.

Ren3

Oh right, so since he's found the WMD, maybe Bush will pull his troops out of Iraq and leave the oil alone?

Jimmy, I believe that ALL politicians have skeletons and crap in their pasts. That's just why I've never really cared for politics. You almost have to sell your soul to the devil to get elected, esp. to a higher office. So even if you're correct and Bush has some questionable shit in his past, it most likely won't be any worse than any of the other politicians, be they Republicans or Democrats. One thing that's always bugged me about Bush is that he has too many friends in Big Business. His ideas often have something to do with helping his rich friends. Like taking over Iraq. That's where the oil is, you know.

I'll give you that one Ren...
and I hope you understand that I in no way meant to offend you with my Shut up and write blog. I enjoy your writing, I was just expressing frustration with a growing obsession. I still wish you would investigate Bush, his background, and the realities behind his lies for yourself. I am morally certain that you would find much to make you question his veracity and good will...either way I will continue to read you and respect your opinions even when I disagree with them...

Right on, Ren
I just read something similar in my favorite newsweekly--glad you blogged it, because it's an important point.

WMD - whodathunkit
I don't like Bush; I don't think he's intelligent enough to be steering the world's economy and I really think he dropped the ball in Iraq. However, I do think regime change was necessary. I didn't know if WMD would ever be found but I was certain mass graves would be. To argue the USA never cared about human rights is like saying "we've always committed murder so it's alright to go on committing murder." What really bothers me about the way it was handled is the fact that all the military planning was done with precision and excellence but there was no planning at all for the aftermath. Winning hearts and minds is impossible when you've destroyed the infrastructure of a country and driven the population into starvation, thirst, cold and disease.

Travis, you make some good points. And yes, I will definitely vote. And yes, we will all see.

I will not disagree

that Sadam was a weapon of mas destruction...  However, I will respectfully disagree on the principal of the issue.

I have gotten the same arguement you have presented from some friends.  The fact is, you are turning it into a human rights issue.  I have a problem with this because the USA dosn't give a flying duck about human rights.

If it did, we would have gone to war with chine over weapons of mass destruction a LONG time ago... but they are good for our economy... so that would be a mistake.

We put the government in power in afgahnastan... the government that punishes anybody found to be a homosexual by having them drawn in quarters. (i.e.  having a hourse tied to each limb.. and then making all four horses gallop).

Both countries are guilty of crimes against humanity... but what has the usa done about those weapons of mass destruction?

Yes, it is a wonderful thing that Sadam is gone... yes.. bush found and destroyed a weapon of mass destruction...

But, no... that wasn't his intention... that's not what was said to the U.N. ... and it doesn't justify having only 3 friends left at the U.N.

Defend the man all you want.. but don't turn it into a human rights issue... the U.S. just doesn't have the history to back up the idea that they actually care.

But I respect you, your opinion, and your right to express it.  We all have viewpoints that are just as valid as the viewpoints of those who oppose us.  Let all just agree to one thing... VOTE... and we'll see what happens
