Re: TAPS

Well that was a bummer. It just went without message. A family like yours makes me so appreciative of those who have them. I want to adopt a big family. Even all our children life too far away.

Rama Lama Ding Gong indeed - I seem to remember that thing vaguely, LOL...Enjoy your mquiet time' (as long as you can stand being quiet, and we all hope that won't be for long, LOL), and tell Son#1 to give us some more of his always interesting poetry...

That'a such a loving gesture!! Though the winter here is nothing compared to what you experience i too love to 'hibernate'(maybe its right to call it so)in my quilt or spend time sitting out in the sun doung nothing.

My DIL worried all the time I was staying with them because I seemed to sleep too much. Actually some of it was just hiding in my room for an hour extra of solitude, especially in the mornings when they were rushing for showers and having to be gone by certain times for work and school.

Goodness Taps you are as lively as a nice lady should be. Your son is really kind, not many would notice if you slept a little longer and did not do so much cooking. I hope your son keeps his pointy hat on it stores the warmth wonderfully.

I know of a lot of people who hibernate during winter.

One needs to coccoon at times in order to nourish the

butterfly inside her. It takes extended periods of sunlight and a burst of green to open up those wings. Rama Lama Ding Dong?   Couldn't hurt.

I never socialize at all so I am sure my kids would go into shock if I did

Yes, the winter everything seems to put a damper on much of life in general. Sounds like Son No. 1 takes after his mom in that he likes to keep people happy. Perhaps in time he will learn that quiet time for you is okay once in a while.

So you and sis had a bit of fun time cruising down Graffiti Lane! I have cruised that street myself once or twice. I love my sis dearly, and we are complete opposites; we don't live close to each other to visit often but when she goes home, it's always with a twinge of sadness, but I do breathe a sigh of relief--the sanctity of quiet returns - for a while.

Re: Krisles

OMG - I just had to respond. All of my life I was given that same variation of, "Smile!" - "Cheer Up!" - or "What's Wrong?" And, if it was a day my contacts were irritating my eyes, then I really heard it! I would just be in deep thought, or not-so-deep thought. I also watch TV with it muted half the time, closed-captioned so that it doesn't "intrude" upon my thinking! I understand anyone who cherishes a bit of quiet time.

I had to chuckle when I read this.  I have been the victim of my smile all my life (yes, it will relate)....because I was always smiling, anytime people ran across me with a serious or, Lord forbid, anything they interpreted as an upset in anyway, expression....I was always given some variation of, "Smile", "Cheer up", "What's wrong?"....and, I was just lost in thought!!!  It has been exhausting always keeping up the disposition others expect so that was one reason for the chuckle - I hear ya, sista!!!  But, tell your son that there is just something in the air because beginning last Saturday - you can even show him that I titled one of my posts  something about silence being golden - I have been on a quiet diet.  I do that....just enjoy the silence, the solitude, for days at a time.  These days, with all the crap going on in the world, I will sometimes turn on a tV and mute it, just so I can glance at it to see if anything crazy is happening....since I live by myself.  Anyway, I had a chuckle at the timing of your crazing for silence right now....Bonnie has 'caught' me a couple of times this last week, too. LOL!
