Oh I love this so much and the storiesw of the tradition. I know you will enjoy the Florida group of the family viewing this too. I would vote for your son as father of the year. How does his son love the light? I bet he really does.

That is a neat tradition. It reminds me of 34th Street in Baltimore, where all the residents decorate their hours with tons of lights, making the street a tourist destination during the Christmas Season.

Re: Re: Krisles

Oh, thank you so much for this link!  I just finished looking at each and every photo and it made me so homesick!!  I think I will always have such a special place in my heart for KC, but especially for the Plaza.    I believe I have a Bower print or two that I have purchased over the yers and have framed and given to my BFF Brenda...she grew up in KC and has lived out of state for many years now.  I'm going to send her this link so she can enjoy it, too.  I'm also going to suggest to her that we book a room right now for next year to make a trip there for a good girls' getaway!

Re: Krisles

There are a lot of really great things about KC, and this is one of my favorites.  Eric Bower is my favorite Kansas City photographer and here is a conglomeration of his Country Club Plaza photos that are realy worth looking at:

The first time I ever went to KC, it was right after Christmas and I had Winstead's special burger with grilled onions on it, and a strawberry shake, when they were still at the location on the hill overlooking the Plaza....I can remember vividly sitting there staring down at that incredible site.....magic!  By the next Thanksgiving, I was living there and watching the lights reflected in 2 yr. old  Michele's eyes when she got so excited she almost fell off Jim's shoulders as we stood in the crowd and they threw the switch to throw those lights on......magic!   The next Christmas, we had an apartment down from the Walnut Towers and walked down there every weekend while the lights were folks came to visit, and I have a vivid  memory of my dad grinning like a kid at the mechanical figures in Hall's windows, snow coming down, reflecting in the lights of the Plaza.....magic!  Year-after-year.....magic!  My mom had a film in the school library she showed the kids every Christmas called Christmas Wonders of the World or something like that...and the Plaza Lights are included.  They were most impressed that her daughter lived in such a magical place!

I love it! Toronto is an interesting city, but we have nothing to compare with that...
