Very lovely and touching; reminded me of my own paternal grandmother,

Ma we called her. She had amazing strengths and a loving, tender heart.

Krisles

A lovely informative tribute to a wonderful Grandmother who was blessed with you as her very own grand daughter.

This poem really touched me...And indeed it is all about touch - what Molly's hand has touched your hand is touching now, and past and present 'find' themselves in that touch, and come to life in your loving thoughts...

have you tried the product tarnex...i think that is how it is spelled...you just put the item in it and the tarnish comes off right away...but then it would deprive you of all that reminiscing

She remembered a host of things, the small butter knife

It should have shone as it once did but that was long ago

She remembered her reflected eyes, but that was another life.

Grandma she thought, so much has happened was that a glow

It flickered in her mind, something's remain warm in memory.

The knife was tarnished, age appears always to destroy beauty

Being sure of her ability to recover perfection she diligently

began to rub and remove all trace of grime with grim efficiency.

I enjoyed reading this portion of your family history. It is amazing all that of which our ancestors went through. I find, too, that the closer the ancestors were to our time period (and those that overlap) are all the more relatable.
