Sad that things moved on too fast for him to touch the past love.

Re: Re: Nautikos

Yes, TAPS, of course that explains it. I had missed the year of his birth somehow...

Re: Nautikos

WW1 was 1914 to 1919.  He was born 1903.  That was what he had in mind when he left home at age 15.  They wouldn't take him because he was too young.  You might find it interesting to know that he also tried to enlist in WW2, but by that time he was "too old and had too many kids (5)."  So when he was turned down there he joined the Kansas City Police Force and fought the "Mob" and graft.  He only did that for two years because he said it was at that time impossible to be a KCPD and stay honest.

I was wondering: Did Hursel see action in Europe during WWI? And I can imagine the agonizing thoughts when he discovered his family was no longer at Antlers - the disappointment, but also a sense of guilt, for it was he who had neglected that contact...

How quickly the years can move on and a person doesn't realize that they have lost touch. Each Generation of your family saga would make a wonderful book.

Hursel is learning the hard way, he will have to track the family down. Good tale and being true history makes it more satisfying.

Oh my, suspense!

So well written and all the more enjoyable knowing it is a true story...

As time goes on, change will come with it.
